The Friday format we run depends on the number of players we get.
It's always a collective camaraderie night, everyone enjoys a healthy serving of action with everyone getting as many games as we can program in, and as long as we can keep you here.
Format possibility #1: 32 players = Full BANZAI! Coed Draw
Player get three different teams with 9 different teammates for pool play, as we shuffle the deck every 2 games.
6 pool play games total (2 + 2 + 2) - games to 18
Single elimination playoffs = 7, 8 or 9 games total for the night for players
Playoff games to 25 round 1, then to 21
Runs 6:45-12:30 am
Format possibility #2: 18-28 players = Accelerated BANZAI! Coed Draw
Player get three different teams with 9 alternating teammates for pool play, as we shuffle the deck every 2 games.
6 pool play games total (2 + 2 + 2) - games to 21
Single elimination playoffs = 7, 8 or 9 games total for the night for players
Playoff games to 25 round 1, then to 21
Runs 6:45-around 11:45 pm
Format possibility #3: 16 players = Blitz Boom BANZAI! Coed Draw
Player get a new team with new teammates every game - 5 pool play games.
4 teams are then formed from pool play records.
Then there are 3 more games in a fun round robin phase where the 4 playoff teams all play each other
8 games for everyone guaranteed
All games to 21
Runs 6:45-10:30 pm
$30 per player
Welcoming all players C level and Up
You must:
- Understand the full rules of clean play - *we can coach you if you need clarification - please ask if you are unsure
- Have some organized volleyball experience
- Be able to control the ball consistently
- Be mobile, able to move efficiently and get to the ball well
- Have the endurance to play 6-8 games for 4-6 hours
Funk Beach features:
- Deep, soft, safe sand in the play area, lovingly maintained
- Clean and even coverage LED lighting
- Ball catch netting all around perimeter with 16 house balls spread around
(we never have to go chase balls down)
- Righteous vibes, groovy music, good times
- Full bar just steps away with draft beers, mixed drinks, bottled beer and beer and Long Drink buckets at excellent prices
- Courtside seating all around at bar and Adirondack chairs on the sand
- Tim usually has the kitchen open until 8-8:30 pm. Grub Hub/DoorDash etc are all 100% OK after that.
- Coolers with NON-alcoholic drinks are always A-OK
- Doggies on leash with good boy owners also most welcome
