Fun Is Number One
Please join us at Funk Beach for a day full of trademark Funkalicious good vibrations and volley camaraderie; maybe catch a buzz and win a prize, too. We relax the rules - here's a breakdown of them: Fun Kahuna level tourney rules - Teams can be 4, 5 or 6 players - Teams of 4 or 5 require at least 1 female player - Teams of 6 require 2 female players For a chill, fun vibe - this is not a spiking event This is a Fun Kahuna gig PLEASE NO SPIKING - practice your ball placement and ball control skills We relax the ball handling rules - We do not call hand sets, defense or passing for double contacts (spinny stuff) - Open hand serve receives are not called - We do not call reasonable lifts/carries - We do not call pushes/throws that go UP Here's what we do call - No throwing/pushing the ball DOWN for a point - No attacking the serve (spiking/blocking the serve back) - 3 ball touches per side play - No net contact at all. Touching, brushing, backing into the net = stop play and point for the opponent. - No contact with opponents under the net - at all. *We need players to control their bodies, to keep sand volleyball a non contact sport and protect everyone's safety. Rotation of team players on the serve is just fine, but not required. Each player on the team must take a turn serving, in order and throughout the game. Please do call the score out or shout "SERVICE!" before each serve, so that your opponent realizes the serve is coming. |

FORMAT
- Seven pool play games (to 15 points/ cap 17) - Double elimination bracket playoffs (games to 18/ cap 21) - 9-13 games total guaranteed for all - Max of 10 teams taken - $35 a player (4 players = $140 / 5 players = $170 / 6 players = $200) - Free Agents are welcome to try to form a team ($35 a player) *Success at forming this of course depends on getting at least 4 free agents Groovy Prizes 1st & 2nd place both place win sweet Funkalicious shirts or Thermoflasks! |
