(players MUST understand Clean Rules of Sand Play and be able to play clean - not Recreational level rules of ball handling)

The Friday format we run depends on the number of players we get.
It's always a collective camaraderie night, everyone enjoys a healthy serving of action with everyone getting as many games as we can program in, and as long as we can keep you here.
Format possibility #1: 32 players = Full BANZAI! Coed Draw
Player get three different teams with 9 different teammates for pool play, as we shuffle the deck every 2 games.
6 pool play games total (2 + 2 + 2)
Single elimination playoffs = 7, 8 or 9 games total for the night for players
Runs 6:45-12:30 am
Format possibility #2: 18-28 players = Accelerated BANZAI! Coed Draw
Player get three different teams with 9 alternating teammates for pool play, as we shuffle the deck every 2 games.
6 pool play games total (2 + 2 + 2)
Single elimination playoffs = 7, 8 or 9 games total for the night for players
Runs 6:45-around 11:30 pm
Format possibility #3: 16 players = Blitz Boom BANZAI! Coed Draw
Player get a new team with new teammates every game - 5 pool play games.
4 teams are then formed from pool play records.
Then there are 3 more games in a fun round robin phase where the 4 playoff teams all play each other
8 games for everyone guaranteed
Runs 6:45-10:30 pm
All games are generally to 21 / cap 23 (*subject to change for time, though we strive not to)
$30 per player

You must:
- Understand the full rules of clean play or be open to instruction
*(please inquire if you are unsure - we are here top help guide you)
- Have some organized volleyball experience
- Be able to control the ball consistently
- Be mobile: able to move efficiently and get to the ball well
- Have the endurance to play 7-10 games for 6 hours straight
Fridays are Hands Fly Free setting - we do not judge or call hand sets (as long as they stay on your net side in your yard)
Funk Beach features:
- Deep sand in the play area, lovingly maintained
- Clean and even coverage LED lighting
- Ball catch netting all around perimeter with 16 house balls spread around
(you never have to go chase balls)
- Righteous vibes, groovy music, good times.
- Full bar just steps away with draft beers, mixed drinks, bottled beer and Dos XX and Long Drink buckets at excellent prices.
- Court side seating all around at bar and Adirondack chairs on the sand
- BYOFood - you are 100% A-OK to bring in your own food or order Door Dash/Grub Hub to the courts.
Kitchen also often open on Fridays until about 8 pm
- Coolers with NON-alcoholic drinks are always A-OK at Elks Island.
- Doggies on leash with good boy owners also A-OK and most welcome.
