Which league is right for your squad: Gold or Silver?

Fun Kahuna Recreational SILVER
For teams who:
- Have players who are raw beginners or just starting to develop their game
- Have players with a more modest agility, speed, sand legs or overall fitness level.

- Have players seeking a more mellow, relaxed vibe for pure fun play rather than a more intense & competitive arena.
- May prioritize drinking and merrymaking over actual game performance. (Ya don't care about the score too, too much.)
- Prefer to focus on just getting to the ball & getting it back over the net & don't want to deal so much with hard spikes & blocks.

* Silver Players must rotate into new positions, like a merry-go-round, each time a new server is up.

* There is NO SPIKING the ball in a DOWNARD trajectory and
NO BLOCKING in the Silver League

Fun Kahuna Recreational GOLD
For teams who:
- Have players who may be athletically more advanced than beginner Rec.
- Have players seeking a more competitive (though) Recreational environment, including spiking & blocking and bump-set-hit.
- Prioritize performance, upping their game and maybe winning.
- Have players seeking solid rallies and challenging games.
* Still prefer the wilder/woolier relaxed rules about ball handling than stricter, true "Intermediate level" leagues demand.

* Gold players are not required to rotate players - teams may set up in positions.

* Spiking & blocking are permitted and 100% part of the game in the Gold League.

Funk Beach Fun Kahuna Rec League RULES

- Team choice: you may play with 4 or 5 or 6 players on the sand (see sex split guide below)
- Team rosters: may be as large as 12 players max.
- Teams may play games with more than 6 players, rotating them in evenly.
- Each player on the team must serve, in order.

RULES ARE EXTREMELY RELAXED
This is "Recreational level" ball - we designed it this way - there is a LOT that we let go
What we do NOT call:
- Lifts & carries (unless they are absurd, extreme actual "catch & hucks")
- UPward pushes or "throws"
- Sloppy sets
- Double contact (aka open fingers spinny play)
- Open hand finger pushes/dinks

For safety and to keep it on the rails fair:
- NO NET CONTACT PERIOD -
Net contact means the play is over, point for the opponent.
This is a Volleyball 101 rule and is essential for safety.

*This means ANY net contact. There is no such thing as "light or reasonable" net contact.
This can easily devolve into dangerous & reckless jungle ball.

- Contact with opponents under the net is a stop play and point for the opponents.
Another essential rule for safety.

- No attacking the serve (contacting a served ball above the net line and blocking or spiking it back down.)
- Block Plus 3 Rule: A soft block attempt touch on the ball does NOT count as one of a team's three allowed ball contacts.
